The South Carolina UGP uses a 10-point grading scale for high school courses. Under the state scale, grades of 90–100 are A, 80–89 are B, 70–79 are C, 60–69 are D, and 0–59 are F.
The Mother Geneva Johnsaon Academy does not create a separate GPA weighting system that conflicts with the state Uniform Grading Policy.
Students will be ranked from highest to lowest cumulative
Class rank will be based on academic coursework included in the student's official school transcript and calculated according to the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy.
Mother Geneva Johnson Academy will calculate cumulative GPAs using the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy formula:
GPA = Sum of (Quality Points × Units) ÷ Sum of Units Attempted
Course quality points will be assigned according to the applicable South Carolina UGP course classification.
The current state weighting structure includes:
Course Level
Maximum Quality Points for 100
College Preparatory
5.000
Honors
5.500
AP/IB/Dual Credit
6.000
The quality points awarded at each numerical grade will correspond to the South Carolina UGP conversion chart. For example, a numerical grade of 90 earns 4.000 quality points in a College Preparatory course, 4.500 in an Honors course, and 5.000 in an AP/IB/Dual Credit course.
*The Mother Geneve Johnson Academy follows the SC UGP in order to allow our students access to the same funding opportunities as those students in public school.
